Kanye West 'deeply disappointed' over leaked 'bogus' version of 'Mama's Boy' track
Rapper Kanye West is reportedly "deeply disappointed" that a "bogus" version of his "Mama's Boy," also known as "Mama's Boyfriend," track was leaked on the internet Wednesday.
The rapper released a statement through his record label, Def Jam, late Wednesday, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which reads "The version of the Kanye West recording 'Mama's Boy' that arrived on blog sites earlier this week is entirely bogus and unsanctioned, and violates the artist's creative intentions."
According to the statement, the vocals heard on the leaked track do belong to Kanye, however, the music heard along with it were added by someone else. "An unknown party or parties got a hold of Kanye West's vocal track and added their own soundbed to it, effectively and falsely releasing it as a Kanye West track from the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy sessions," the statement said.
The statement continues, "The result in no way resembles the final song Kanye West intended his fans to hear, and he is deeply disappointed that one of the most personal, meaningful and special songs he has ever written would reach people in this way."
West performed the song live in July for Facebook employees at their headquarters in Palo Alto, California.
Before his performance, the rapper said, "It took me 32 years of my life to write it."
The rapper had a close relationship with his late mother Donda West, who died in 2007 of complications from cosmetic surgery. In 2009, then California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger passed the "Donda West Law." According to the Los Angeles Times, the law "prohibits elective cosmetic surgery unless the patient first is cleared by a physical examination."
