Justin Timberlake gives Olivia Wilde parenting advice
Justin Timberlake and Olivia Wilde went from rumored romance to a mother-son relationship in their upcoming science fiction thriller "In Time" and the actor said his co-star used parenting advice from his own mother.
"We'd read the script and I would say, 'Here's something my mom might do,' or 'Here's the way my mom might say it,'" Timberlake told Entertainment Weekly. "I think she really looked to me to give her those little things because she had the trickier job in our scenes. But she's obviously a great actor. When you meet both of [our characters], it's visually jolting, but within seconds you're like, 'Oh wow, that is his mother.'"
Wilde and Timberlake recently finished filming "In Time," which tells of a futuristic society where people cannot age and can only remain alive as long as they pay for it, which helps control overpopulation. They also co-starred in the 2006 film "Alpha Dog."
"We laughed about it when we first saw each other," Timberlake said of having the actress play his mother in their new movie. "First of all, Olivia is three years younger than me!"
"In Time" also stars Amanda Seyfried as Timberlake's love interest, Cillian Murphy and Vincent Galecki.
Director Andrew Niccol ("Gattaca") told the trade publication that he sought out actors who could portray older characters while still looking like they were 25 years old.
"I went on a search for these old souls," Niccol said. "Olivia has something about her -- a maturity that's way beyond her years... She just inhabited the role."
The 27-year-old actress, who stars on the show "House M.D," and Timberlake, a 30-year-old pop star, were romantically linked in April, but Wilde denied the relationship on her Twitter page, writing, "Cool it, honeybadgers. We are just friends and have been for years."
In early March, Wilde filed for divorce from husband Tao Ruspoli after announcing their separation in February. The same time, Timberlake and actress-girlfriend Jessica Biel called it quits after four years of dating.
"In Time" is slated for release on October 28, 2011. Watch a teaser trailer below.
