Justin Timberlake Tweets his sponsored race car's big win at the Indy 500
Justin Timberlake is on a winning streak.
After getting rave reviews and solid ratings for his hosting stint on "Saturday Night Live" in May, the singer and actor had another reason to celebrate on Sunday when his sponsored race car won the Indianapolis 500.
The singer's clothing line William Rast, which he started with longtime friend Tracy Ayala in 2006, sponsored driver Dan Wheldon. Wheldon outpaced 32 other cars to the finish line to take home the top prize on Sunday. This was the second win for Wheldon, 32, who last won the Indy 500 in 2005.
"What a Memorial Day weekend! The William Rast car just won the Indy 500," Timberlake Tweeted on Sunday. He later added, "Congrats to Dan Wheldon, the WR racing team and everyone else who put in the hard work for this victory! Unreal!"
Last week, the singer scored major ratings for his return to the "Saturday Night Live stage" with musical guest Lady Gaga. According to the network, the episode was the highest rated season finale since 2004, when the Olsen twins hosted.
Timberlake revived one of his popular characters from his "Saturday Night Live" digital shorts "[Expletive] in a Box" and "Mother Lover" with Andy Samberg. The new short, dubbed "The Golden Rule" featured Lady Gaga and can be seen below.
