Justin Bieber's new tattoo didn't impress David Letterman, who tried to remove the fresh ink himself on "The Late Show with David Letterman" on Thursday.

Justin Bieber released his latest album on June 19 and celebrated by getting the name of the album "Believe" tattooed on the inside of his forearm. Letterman told Bieber, "Tell me that's the last one," to which the pop star replied, "might be."

"No, it is," Letterman said. "Honestly, how does that help how you look to have a tattoo?"

"How does it not? It doesn't not help the way I look. Yesterday my album came out and it was an important day for me, so I got 'Believe,'" Bieber replied, which prompted Letterman to attempt to erase the tattoo.

"Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! This is brand new!" Justin said, before calling Letterman "Grandpa."

The 65-year-old talk show host went on to tell Bieber to keep his tattoo habit under control, joking that he doesn't want the pop star to look like the Sistine Chapel.

"I'm not going for the Sixteenth Chapel look," Justin said earnestly, prompting Letterman to quip, "Canadian high school."

Letterman didn't stop his stern speech at tattoos, he also congratulated Bieber for graduating from high school and encouraged the Canadian star go to college and to obtain United States citizenship.

Bieber recently did several drama-filled secret European shows to promote "Believe." During a stop in Paris, the pop singer sustained a concussion after running into a glass wall and he caused a near state of emergency, performing on a rooftop in Norway.
