Once labeled "America's Sweetheart" by the press, Julia Roberts takes a mean turn as The Queen in the comedy twist on "Snow White" in the film "Mirror Mirror" starring Lily Collins and Armie Hammer.

"It was just such good fun," Roberts told OnTheRedCarpet.com in a recent interview of her role as the villain in the film. "We played with it, we played with it before we started shooting we worked a lot on just kind of making it bigger, and meaner and funnier as best as we could and then we would make things up as we went along."

"Nathan [Lane] brought a lot to it and Armie [Hammer] so it was always, you know, it was just a great intense match all the time," she added.

In "Mirror Mirror," Roberts rolls her eyes at the mention of young Snow White, played by Colins, and dismisses her fair complexion as a product of sun depravation. Despite being on screen foes, Collins - who is the daughter of musician Phil Collins - said she was a bit star struck during scenes with the 44-year-old Academy Award-winning actress.

" I was having moments when you know we were in a scene together and she's being horribly mean to me, and I'm Snow in the scene, but inside Lily is going, 'Wow!' You know? I'm kind of having a moment of, 'Is this really happening?' all the time," Collins told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "That's just me in real life anyway though. When I get invited to things or I'm in certain situations I go, 'Why am I here? This is so cool.' I'm always kind of in that state of amazement."

Roberts has an upcoming role in the film "August: Osage County," which sees her and Meryl Streep playing a mother and daughter.

The veteran actress rose to fame playing a prostitute with a heart of gold in the 1990 film "Pretty Woman," which earned her a second Oscar nomination. She received her first nod for the 1989 movie "Steel Magnolias." She finally won an Oscar for her title role in the 2000 movie "Erin Brockovich."

"Mirror, Mirror" is one of two film adaptations of "Snow White" that is due to hit theaters this year. The other is the dark "Snow White and the Huntsman."
