Julia Louis-Dreyfus gets HBO comedy pilot, 'Veep', which sees her playing U.S. Vice President
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, best known as Elaine from "Seinfeld", is set to star as Vice President of the United States in a new sitcom pilot called "Veep", which will air on HBO.
Entertainment Weekly quoted HBO, a premium cable network, as saying the new series is "a comedy set very near the White House," adding: "Former Senator Selina Meyer (Louis-Dreyfus) finds being Vice President of the United States is nothing like she expected and everything everyone ever warned about."
Louis-Dreyfus, an Emmy winner who received a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in May (see video), played comedian Jerry Seinfeld's quirky friend Elaine on the hit sitcom "Seinfeld", which ran from 1990 to 1998.
She recently portrayed divorced mom Christine Campbell on the CBS comedy series "The New Adventures of Old Christine", which began airing in 2006 and ended in May after five seasons.
