Josh Lucas, who appeared in the 2011 film "J. Edgar," and his wife Jessica welcomed their first child together on June 29, the actor's rep confirmed on July 2.

The baby boy, named Noah Rev Maurer, was born in New York City and weighed 9 lbs., 4 ounces, Lucas' rep told OnTheRedCarpet.com.

The "Life as We Know It" actor announced that he had gotten married and was expecting his first child in May.

Lucas revealed his engagement on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on January 5, 2012. He told Leno that he popped the question following a scary encounter with a mountain lion.

Lucas said he came across the mountain lion while filming a movie in Big Sur, Calif., where he was staying in an "eco resort" which required a 20 minute hike to reach. After scaring the mountain lion away by screaming and "literally being as crazy" as he could be, Lucas said, "I worked my way into the trailer and I got in and I decided at that moment that this woman was the woman for me."

Lucas and Jessica attended the November premiere of "J. Edgar" together and she was sporting an engagement ring. This will be Lucas' first marriage. He has previously been romantically linked to Anne Hathaway, Rachel McAdams and Salma Hayek.

The 41-year-old actor currently stars in the NBC series "The Firm." He has also appeared in films like "American Psycho," "A Beautiful Mind," "Sweet Home Alabama" and "The Lincoln Lawyer."

He will next portray Beat poet Neal Cassady in "Big Sur," which is based on Jack Kerouac's novel of the same name.
