Johnny Depp says he is willing to make a guest appearance in the planned film adaptation of "21 Jump Street", the 1980s cop series that helped make him famous.
Depp, now a renowned film actor who appears in the upcoming Angelina Jolie movie "The Tourist", starred on the show between 1987 and 1990. He has said he hated being contractually bound to the series, but agreed it helped make him a household name. "I've said I'm into it, but no one's actually approached me," Depp told MTV News recently. "I'm in. I think it'd be pretty easy." The show also starred Holly Robinson Peete, who is now a co-host on "The Talk", and Peter DeLuise and depicted young officers going undercover, often in high schools. Michael Bendetti was cast in the lead role following Depp's departure before the fifth and final season began in 1991. The "21 Jump Street" film is due for release on March 16, 2012 and actors reportedly attached to the project include comedic actor Jonah Hill, Julianne Hough of "Dancing With the Stars" and "Burlesque" and Channing Tatum, who played Captain Duke Hauser in the recent "G.I. Joe film". They have not commented. It was reported in November that production on the "21 Jump Street" film is due to begin in the spring of 2011.
