John Mayer debuts 'Paper Doll,' lyric video has Prancercise lady
John Mayer debuted his new song, "Paper Doll," with a very interesting lyric video that features a special guest.
Joanna Rohrback, the woman from the viral Prancercise video, stars in Mayer's lyric video and does a custom Prancercise work out to the new single as the lyrics scroll across the bottom. The lyric video can be seen below.
The song is the first single off Mayer's upcoming album "Paradise Valley," which is due out on August 13. Some outlets have speculated that the lyrics to "Paper Doll" allude to Mayer's relationship with singer Taylor Swift.
Swift allegedly written about her relationship with Mayer in an unfavorable light in "Dear John." While Swift never outright confirmed the song was about Mayer, Mayer said last year that he felt "humiliated" by the single.
"You're like 22 girls in one and none of them know what they're running from" Mayer sings. Swift has a hit song called "22" and in "Dear John" she sings, "And I'll look back and regret how I ignored when they said, 'Run as fast as you can.'"
Swift also sang in "Dear John," "You paint me a blue sky and go back and turn it to rain." In "Paper Doll," Mayer sings, "Someone's gonna paint you another sky."
Mayer is set to embark on a summer tour, which kicks off on July 6 at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Check out the lyric video for "Paper Doll" below.
