John Krasinski: 'Something Borrowed' is 'dirtier'
John Krasinski says his latest film, "Something Borrowed," is a little "dirtier" than many romance films, but not in the way you may think.
The movie hit theaters on Friday, May 6, and is rated PG-13. Krasinski, a 31-year-old actor known for his role as good guy Jim on "The Office," plays Ethan, a friend of Ginnifer Goodwin's character, Rachel, who falls for Dex, the fiance of Kate Hudson's character, Darcy, who is her best friend.
Dex is played by Colin Egglesfield, formerly of the defuct "Melrose Place" television reboot.
"In this movie, I think the relationships are dealt with in a lot more of a real way. Not to say that this movie's exactly how real life happens - it's a little dirtier," Krasinski told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Rachel Smith at the recent Los Angeles premiere of the film.
"It's not like the main characters get together right away," he said. "People are making hard choices and hard sacrifices. There's cheating involved. That's never fun. But it's kind of more real."
Krasinski married British actress Emily Blunt in July 2010. His "Something Borrowed" co-stars, Goodwin and Hudson, are currently engaged.
Goodwin, who is also known for playing Margene in the HBO polygamy drama "Big Love," and boyfriend Joey Kern announced in December that they planned to wed. This will be the actress' first marriage.
Hudson, who is pregnant with her second child, announced on NBC's "Today" show last week that she is engaged to boyfriend and "Muse" singer Matthew Bellamy, the baby's father. She has a 7-year-old son, Ryder, with ex-husband Chris Robinson of the rock back the Black Crowes.
