At the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, Jodie Foster won the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement and gave a speech in which she "put it out there, loud and proud," that she is single, following years of speculation about her sexuality.

Foster, who has won two Oscars and two Golden Globes in the past, mentioned by name her former partner of 20 years, a production manager named Cydney Bernard, with whom she shares two sons. Foster also suggested she may retire from acting. Check out a transcript of her speech.

Jodie Foster is set to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the 70th annual Golden Globes next year for her work on the silver screen.

The actress, who has won two Oscars and two Golden Globe Awards, was announced as the recipient by her "Panic Room" co-star Kristen Stewart at a press conference on Thursday, November 1.

The two-time Academy Award-winning actress is attached to direct a film called "Money Monster," according to Deadline.com. The film will be a drama about a TV personality named Lee Gates whose "insider trading tips have made him a money guru of Wall Street."

Jodie Foster's estranged father was sentenced to five years in jail for 21 counts of grand theft and nine counts of contracting without a license.

According to the Associated Press, Lucius Foster earned over $200,000 from the poor and elderly in his home-building scheme. The 89-year-old Sherman Oaks building contractor took $5,000 from 21 people, agreeing to build them affordable homes made from shipping containers.

Jodie Foster is hoping to make contact with extraterrestrials off-screen, as the actress wrote a big check to help save the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institute.

Earlier in the year, the nonprofit was forced to shut down its Allen Telescope Array, which searches for alien signals, due to budget issues. Foster, who played fictional SETI scientist Ellie Arroway in the 1997 film "Contact," was one of the 2,441 private donors who helped put the telescope back to work.

Jodie Foster admits she has no idea whether her film "The Beaver" will suffer in the box office due to Mel Gibson's troubled personal life, but says her star is "a beautiful man."

"I have no idea how people will feel coming into it or if they can really put aside what they know of the public airings of a man's private life," Foster told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "I don't know if they can, that's a good question for you, can you see a movie and put that aside and really just be able to enjoy the experience of seeing this film."
