Joan Rivers' airplane struck by lightning after LAX arrival
Joan Rivers was one of the passengers arriving at Los Angeles' International Airport whose airplane was struck by lightning on Friday.
"I just landed on a plane from LA that was STRUCK by lightning," Rivers wrote on Friday, April 13. "Thank God everyone is fine. I now think Benjamin Franklin was an ASS!"
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed to KABC, OnTheRedCarpet.com's parent company, that there were a few aircrafts arriving in Los Angeles which had lightning strikes. However, it was not declared an emergency and there were no reports of any significant damage.
United flight 703, which flew from JFK International Airport in New York to LAX was reportedly struck by lightning while sitting at the gate upon arrival. Witnesses said that there appeared to be a small hole in one engine, which was reportedly sustained in the lightning storm.
Rivers recently denied rumors that she has had 739 plastic surgery procedures, when asked to confirm the number she told Anderson Cooper, "Every weekend I just go in and I do something... You get a tenth one free. It's like coffee so you just keep going."
The 78-year-old comedienne acts as a host on the E! network's "Fashion Police" opposite Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic and George Kotsiopoulos.
