Jimmy Kimmel chosen to entertain White House Correspondents
11/01/2011 by Carollyn Nguyen
Jimmy Kimmel has been chosen to entertain the president because of his "sophisticated and edgy" sense of humor.
The "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" host will be the featured comedian at the White House Correspondents' Association's 98th annual dinner on April 28, 2012.
The association's president said Kimmel's "humor is sophisticated and edgy while appealing to a wide audience," according to the Associated Press.
The 43-year-old comedian said he is looking forward to being part of next year's event, adding, "I love dinner."
Traditionally, the president and first lady attend the event, which supports and recognizes excellence in journalism. They're usually joined by other government officials and members of the press.
