07/05/2012 by Corinne Heller

Jill Zarin, a former cast member of "The Real Housewives of New York City," is set to bring her reality show expertise to ABC's new "Good Morning America" spin-off.

The 48-year-old announced to her fans via her email newsletter on Wednesday that she has been made a "special correspondent" for the network's new summer series, "Good Afternoon America." The New York City-based show debuts next week and will be hosted by "Good Morning America" personalities Lara Spencer and Josh Elliot.

"I am doing a weekly reality show segment on Wednesdays at 2pm...giving my opinion on reality shows," Zarin said. "My first show will air July 11th and covers shows like 'America's Got Talent,' 'The Bachelorette' and maybe a housewife show?? It is part time and yet still gives me an opportunity to talk to all of you every week and keep it real. I love that I am 'LIVE'...you never know what I will come up with right?"

ABC has not commented about Zarin's announcement.

OnTheRedCarpet.com has learned that the reality star will still appear on the show on July 11 but it is unclear how often she will be featured afterwards. Other celebrities set to be featured on "Good Afternoon America" include members of the pop group Wilson Phillips, who will appear on the series on July 13.

"Us 3 on live tv on a Friday the 13th? HOW COULD ANYTHING GO WRONG? lol #GAA," Tweeted singer Chynna Phillips, who last year competed on ABC's "Dancing With The Stars."

"Good Afternoon America" is set to debut on July 9 and will air on weekdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The series will run for nine weeks and feature celebrities, performances by big name music acts and focus on pop culture, entertainment, health, workplace and consumer reporting.

On July 13,

Zarin was a cast member of the hit Bravo reality show "The Real Housewives of New York City" for four seasons, starting from its debut in 2008. Her departure was announced last September.
