Jessica Simpson 'might elope' with fiance Eric Johnson
"No date has been set yet. We've both been married before," Simpson told Women's Wear Daily. "We're enjoying our commitment to each other. We want to take our time... We might elope if it gets to that point."
This will be the second marriage for both Simpson and her new fiancé Johnson, 31, who played for the San Francisco 49ers and then the New Orleans Saints before he was released from his contract in 2008, filed for divorce from his wife in January. The divorce was finalized in September 2010.
Simpson, 30, and Nick Lachey starred on the MTV reality show "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica", which documented their married life together before their divorce in 2006. Since her divorce, Simpson has dated singer John Mayer, who called her "sexual napalm" in a Playboy magazine interview and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who famously broke up with the singer on the night before her 29th birthday.
Simpson has branched out from reality television, acting and singing to create a fashion empire that is expected to hit $1 billion in retail sales next year. Simpson has signed 22 liscensing agreements to branch out into home, fine jewelry, cosmetics and men's wear in the future after already conquering women's wear and accessories.
Simpson has released a greatest hits compilation called "Playlist: The Very Best of Jessica Simpson" in October and "Happy Christmas" in November. The singer also admit that she has been in talks to judge Simon Cowell's upcoming singing competition "The X-Factor."
"They have definitely talked to me about 'X Factor,'" Simpson told WWD. "I think it would be a lot of fun. It's definitely my life. To be a mentor for up-and-coming artists is right up my alley. I would have loved to have a mentor. I love watching people's dreams come true."
Earlier in the month, it was announced that Simon Cowell had brought on Grammy-winning music mogul Antonio "L.A." Reid as a judge on the Fox show, a third judge has yet to be announced.
Even though the pop star has a lot on her plate, she insists that she's a homebody.
"In my downtime, I'm wearing sweats and on my couch catching up on TV shows, Simpson told WWD. "My house is my little château. I like to stay home with my friends and cook, or we all order in. My house is a revolving door. I always have at least five people over all the time."
