'Jersey Shore' recasting reports untrue, MTV says
MTV says it has no plans to recast its hit reality series "Jersey Shore," which features stars such as Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "JWoww" Farley and Paul "DJ Pauly D" Delvecchio, despite recent reports.
"We love the present cast, and their summer adventures have just begun," an MTV network spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com on Friday, June 24. "We currently have no plans to recast the show."
"Jersey Shore" was the top-rated cable show of 2010. The series depicts a group of party-loving, self-proclaimed "Guidos and Guidettes" and has become a pop culture phenomenon. Its fourth season, which began filming in Italy several weeks ago, is set to air on August 4.
It was announced that in late June, the cast will return from Italy and travel to the show's original location - Seaside Heights, New Jersey - to film the fifth season. Several websites, including Us Weekly's, had reported the current cast members would exit the show after that.
Three of the show's cast members also have their own shows in the works, which are set to air in 2012.
The network announced in April that they will build the "Jersey Shore" franchise with two new programs starring Polizzi, Farley and Delvecchio.
"Poised to get their G.T.L. on abroad, ready to drop in on Vinny's family for a famous Guadagnino dinner and excited to trade gorillas for Italian stallions, this wacky and dysfunctional family is about to turn 'The Beautiful country' upside down," MTV had said in an earlier statement.
"GTL" stands for "Gym, Tan, Laundry," which constitutes the activities "Jersey Shore" stars typically engage in regularly.
