'Jersey Shore' ratings continue to soar with another series high
The "Jersey Shore" cast continues to be a hit for MTV as the reality show hit a new series high for ratings on Thursday.
The cast's antics at Seaside Heights, New Jersey, nabbed 8.6 million viewers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The viewer turnout topped the show's previous high of 8.45 million for the show's third season debut on January 6.
The third season premiere of the MTV reality TV series was the most watched series telecast in the cable network's history, MTV announced on January 8.
In December, MTV announced that it signed a deal with Paul "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio to star in his own spin-off series.
"He's distinguished himself onscreen as the fun-loving, well-coiffed and dependable guy you can't help but want to hang out with," MTV News quoted Chris Linn, executive vice president of programming and head of production for MTV, as saying in a statement regarding DelVecchio. "We know viewers are curious about his life away from the shore and we look forward to exploring new possibilities around that."
495 Productions, which produces "Jersey Shore", shot a pilot for DelVecchio's new show in September, MTV News said.
