Jerry Lewis says he would smack and spank Lindsay Lohan, says she and Paris Hilton are 'begging for help'
Jerry Lewis, an 84-year-old actor and comedian, says he would smack and spank Lindsay Lohan and added that she and other young starlets who have gotten into legal trouble, such as Paris Hilton, are "begging for help".
Lewis is known nowadays for running an annual telethon to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Asked what he thought of Lohan, who recently ended shortened stints in jail and rehab for violating her probation in a 2007 drunken driving case, Lewis recently told the television show Inside Edition: "I would smack her in the mouth if I saw her. I would smack her in the mouth and be arrested for abusing a woman. I would say, 'You deserve this and nothing else.' Whack!""And then, if she's not satisfied, I'd put her over my knee and spank her and then put her in rehab and then, that's it," he added. "She doesn't have the right to do to herself what she's doing. She's not hurting my business. What she's doing is hurting herself and I think that hurts me. It hurts me for her."
Lewis said he would do "the same thing" with Hilton, who was arrested in Las Vegas on August 27 for possession of cocaine. Lohan, 24, and Hilton, 29, have not commented on Lewis' comments. Lohan told Vanity Fair recently that she dabbled in "certain things" because she was young and curious and because others did so as well.
The cocaine was found in a purse the hotel heiress was carrying. Hilton said she had borrowed the bag from a friend and that she thought the bindle containing the drug was "gum". The arrest marked Hilton's third drug-related incident in the last two month and she also spent 23 days in jail n 2007 after pleading no contest in to alcohol-related reckless driving.
Hilton is set to be arraigned on October 27 in Las Vegas and if convicted, she is expected to get probation but could be sent to jail for up to four years if she violates its terms.
"Those children are begging for help," Lewis said. "What they're doing is saying 'I'm (expletive) up, can you please help me?' They have no idea that celebrity is looked upon by the masses as a wonderful thing. They're not going to have that problem too long. They will go away."
Lewis celebrities who "deliver nothing in return" need to be spanked and reprimanded.
"Because they have all that money, they can do that? It has nothing to do with money," he said. "It has to do that they have the intelligence of a box of rocks. A bag of snails will give you better answers than that people. I think a great deal of it is ignorance. Ignorance and crying for something other than fan love. They'd like their parents to be there."
