Jenny McCarthy kissed a sailor and turned it up to 11 to ring in 2013 while co-hosting "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve."

The 40-year-old TV personality had joked about her 2012 dating attempts during the ABC special and asked viewers to vote online for the type of person she should kiss at midnight -- a New York City firefighter, a member of the U.S. military or an "average Joe." Reps for the show also promoted the poll on Twitter and Facebook.

As main host Ryan Seacrest finished leading the crowd at New York City's Times Square in a countdown to midnight, a member of the U.S. Navy, who identified himself as Benjamin Moore, dipped McCarthy and shared a lingering kiss with her.

"I think I'm in love!" McCarthy said after her smooch, which lasted several seconds.

She and Moore then danced as Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" was played.

"I would like to confirm that you are single," she said.

"Yes, I am single," he replied.

"Okay, so how would you rate that kiss from 1 to 10?" she asked.

Amid the noise of the crowd, he asked her repeat her question, which she did. He then said: "It was probably a 10."

"Ohhhhh! I say it's an 11," McCarthy said. "Thank you so much for being here. Happy new year and thank you for all that you do for all of us."

"Thank you. Happy new year to you as well," Moore replied, chewing his gum.

Last year, McCarthy chose to kiss a New York City police officer. At the time, he told Seacrest on the air: "I just happened to be standing near that hot cop." The man, who was not identified, said he rated her kiss a 10.

McCarthy dated NFL player Brian Urlacher of the Chicago Bears for several months in 2010. She confirmed in August of that year that they had broken up, adding: "Brian and I have decided to turn our romance into an amazing friendship. I will continue to be the biggest cheerleader for him. Go, Bears!"

"I have been definitely enjoying my 'singledomness,'" McCarthy told SheKnows in an interview published on January 1. "I enjoy hitting the clubs with my girlfriends."

McCarthy, who lives in Chicago with her 10-year-old son, Evan, adding: "Being a single mom, it's really important to have guys be into children. Not that I want to introduce them to Evan immediately. I have a six-month rule where I don't want anyone to meet Evan until they've made it past that, but I did go on a few dates where the guys have said to me, 'I hate kids.' And that's when I say, 'Check please!' That's an important thing."

McCarthy famously dated Jim Carrey for about five years before they announced their split in April 2010. In 2011, she dated sports agent Paul Krepelka for several months.

McCarthy rose to fame as a co-host of the MTV 1990s series "Singled Out" and later headed her own sketch comedy series. She is currently promoting her new VH1 talk series, "The Jenny McCarthy Show," which premieres on February 8 at 10:30 p.m. ET.

The show is described as a "360 pop culture experience that will feature appearances by a slew of Jenny's favorite celebs, her loyal shanks AKA her girlfriends -- and some dreamy bartenders."
