Jennifer Love Hewitt talks 'Client List' show, has 3 duties
Jennifer Love Hewitt says she is excited about the television series adaptation of her hit Lifetime movie, "The Client List," especially since she will get to see some of the action behind the camera.
In the film, which aired on the cable network last year, Hewitt played a struggling Texas housewife who turns into a prostitute after she starts working at a massage parlor that secretly operates as a brothel and caters to powerful businessmen. The show earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
Lifetime announced last week that a new series based on its movie was in the works and sees Hewitt playing a single mother who helps run the business, adding that she would also serve as an executive producer. The actress told OnTheRedCarpet.com that she will also get to direct several episodes.
"I'm executive-producing, starring and getting to direct - at 32, you can't ask for anything better," she told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Chris Balish at the recent Los Angeles premiere for her film "Cafe."
"I'm super excited," she said. "Lifetime is awesome. We start in late November. I'm really excited about it. I think it's going to be a really good show for people to watch. I think it's going to be really fun. It'll have all the elements that people loved as the movie with a lot of new stuff."
Hewitt made her directorial debut in 2009, when she helmed several episodes of her previous series, the drama "Ghost Whisperer."
Hewitt told OnTheRedCarpet.com last year that she found her role in "the Client Life" movie to be empowering because her character becomes the family's breadwinner.
Hewitt rose to fame playing Sarah Reeves on the family drama series "Party of Five" in the 1990s. She later starred in a spin-off, "Time of Your Life" and also appeared in movies such as "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and a sequel, Can't Hardly Wait" and "Heartbreakers." She played main character Melinda Gordon "Ghost Whisperer," which ran on CBS between 2005 and 2010.
Also in 2010, Hewitt played a rape victim on the NBC crime drama series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." This year, Hewitt appeared on an episode of the TV Land sitcom "Hot In Cleveland," which stars Betty White.
She and comedian Jamie Kennedy filmed the independent flick "Cafe" in 2009, when the two were involved romantically. They broke up in March 2010. The movie was screened at the Philadelphia Film Festival in the following October and opened in Los Angeles on Friday, August 19.
Hewitt also recently filmed the movie "Jewtopia" and posted a photo of herself from the set on Wednesday on her Twitter page (pictured above). The romantic comedy film tells of a man who pretends to be Jewish in order to win the affection of his love interest.
"Jewtopia" is set for release in 2012 and also stars "Hot In Cleveland" cast member Wendie Malick, Jamie-Lynn Sigler of "The Sopranos" and "Entourage," former "Desperate Housewives" star Nicollette Sheridan, Rita Wilson, Tom Arnold, Jon Lovitz, Crystal Reed and "Step By Step" actress Christine Lakin.
