Jennifer Lopez praises Chris Medina after crying over his 'American Idol' elimination

Jennifer Lopez appeared to break down crying after she and the other "American Idol" judges eliminated Chris Medina on Wednesday's episode and the singer-actress on Thursday praised the former contestant, who taking care of his disabled fiance at home.

"I didn't break down when he was there," Lopez said on "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show on Thursday. "I did it afterwards. It really hit me. I just couldn't believe I had to deliver this news to this person that I felt had been through a lot and is going through a lot."

"I felt like I didn't do it well enough for him to send him ... into where he needed to go in his life and be okay," she added. "He handled it with such dignity and so much class and that made it worse for me. That was actually a moment that I didn't expect to be on camera."

Medina's fiance, Juliana Ramos was rendered nearly paralyzed and suffered brain damage after a 2009 accident. She appeared in a wheelchair during Medina's first on-air audition on an episode of "American Idol" earlier in the current 10th season, which began in January.

Ramos did not speak but was approached by Lopez and the other two judges - Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler. The Aerosmith singer kissed her on the cheek and told her Medina sang well at his audition.

Meanwhile, Medina is continuing his music career and plans to debut his new song ""What are Words" on iTunes later on Thursday, after "American Idol" airs, and will also appear on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on Friday, NBC said.

Lopez also released new music recently - her new dance song, "On the Floor," has surfaced online and on the radio and contains vocals from rapper Pitbull and samples from Kaoma's 1989 track "Lambada."

The music video for the song is set to premiere during "American Idol" on March 3. "On the Floor" the debut single from Lopez's seventh studio album, "Love?," which is set to hit stores on March 29.

Lopez is known for pop and dance tracks such as "If You Had My Love" and "Jenny From the Block" and last released a full-length record, "Brave," in 2007.
