Jennifer Lawrence: In Hollywood, I'm obese
Jennifer Lawrence might look perfectly svelte, but the actress claims that she's considered "obese" in Hollywood.
"In Hollywood, I'm obese," Lawrence told Elle magazine in their December 2012 cover story. "I'm considered a fat actress... I'm Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach."
"I'm never going to starve myself for a part," Lawrence continued. "I don't want little girls to be like, 'Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I'm going to skip dinner.' That's something I was really conscious of during training, when you're trying to get your body to look exactly right. I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong - not thin and underfed."
Lawrence's career began at age 14, when she appeared in a commercial for MTV's "My Super Sweet 16" and in the movie "Devil You Know." Following the attention she received from "Winter's Bone," Lawrence was cast in "X-Men: First Class" and "The Hunger Games."
Though she's been very successful in her career, Lawrence told the fashion magazine that she hasn't changed her lifestyle much.
"Ten million dollars and I'm still living in my parents' condo," Lawrence said. "I've always lived in a tiny rat-infested apartment in New York, or a little condo in L.A., or a normal house in Kentucky. I think it would be very bizarre to live in a big mansion by myself."
The "Hunger Games" also opened up about her relationship with British actor Nicholas Hoult, telling Elle that they are each other's best friends.
"[My boyfriend] is honestly my best friend, and hopefully I'm his best friend too. He's my favorite person to be around and makes me laugh harder than anybody," Lawrence said. "We can eat Cheetos and watch beach volleyball and we turn into two perverted Homer Simpsons, like, 'Oh, she's got a nice ass.' I never thought we'd have such different opinions on asses."
Lawrence will next appear opposite Bradley Cooper in "Silver Linings Playbook," which is slated for release on November 21. Watch the trailer below.
