Jennifer Aniston hates being in a 'love triangle' with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Jennifer Aniston seems perfectly happy in her love life these days, but you wouldn't always know it from tabloids still linking her to her ex-husband Brad Pitt after their divorce seven years ago.
"There are so many [misconceptions about my life]," Aniston told Instyle magazine for their March cover story. "I would say the triangle with my ex-husband - and that there's a feud there. It's a constant. It's a story headline that won't go away, but it's a money thing - [people made money off] a story that has nothing to do with reality."
Pitt and Aniston, his first and only wife, married in 2000 and divorced in 2005. Pitt and Jolie, 36, have been together since then and have a family. The actor and actresses make up one of Hollywood's most-talked about "love triangles."
Rumors of a romantic affair between Pitt and Jolie began to circulate in 2004, when they filmed the spy movie "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," which saw them playing a married couple.
Pitt made headlines last year after telling Parade magazine that he felt "pathetic" during his time with Aniston, during which time he smoked too much marijuana and couldn't get himself off the couch.
The 48-year-old actor backtracked on the statement and said his marriage to Aniston is "an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself - and that, I am responsible for."
Aniston doesn't seem to regret her marriage to Pitt or any relationships afterwards, as it's allowed her to figure out what she needs in a relationship now.
"Having experienced everything you don't want in a partner over time, it starts to narrow down what you actually do want," Aniston continued. "As I get older I realize what qualities are important in love and what suits me. And what I won't settle for."
Aniston has moved on herself and was reportedly set to buy a new $22 million Bel-Air home with her boyfriend Justin Theroux.
Aniston, 42, and Theroux, a 40-year-old actor who also co-wrote the screenplays for "Iron Man 2," "Tropic Thunder" and the new "Rock of Ages" film, have been dating since at least May of 2011 and co-starred in the movie "Wanderlust," which was released in October.
"First of all, he has great style - it's very specific, and it has been his style forever. Has it influenced mine? No, but I know people say it has," Aniston said of her new relationship misconception. "'Oh, look, you're dressing alike.' And I think, No I'm not. I've had this jacket for three years!"
Though Aniston seems to have found her style, there's no doubt that the former "Friends" actress has been through some changes. Check out photos of the actress, who turns 43 on February 11, through the years.
Aniston will next appear opposite Paul Rudd in "Wanderlust," which is slated for release on February 24, 2012. The R-rated comedy, which follows Aniston and Paul Rudd as they leave their city lives and land in a clothing-optional hippie commune.
"It was one of the most idyllic film experiences I've ever had," Aniston said of the "Wanderlust" set. "We were an acting troupe who spent three months together out on a lake, and we were laughing the whole time. We became a family."
