Jeff Conaway skipped in Emmy 'In Memoriam' montage

It seems that every year at every awards ceremony, someone is left out of the "In Memoriam" montage and Sunday night's Primetime Emmy Awards were no exception as "Grease" star Jeff Conaway was missing.

The Academy acknowledged the omission on their website writing, "Unfortunately, due to inevitable time limitations, the producers of the telecast are not able to include all of the worthy television professionals who have passed away from year to year."

Conaway, who also starred in "Taxi," passed away on May 27 at age 60. Conaway had been hospitalized two weeks earlier and was put in a medically-induced coma. He was taken off of life support after doctors deemed him brain dead following his battle with pneumonia and sepsis.

Conaway played Kenickie, a member of the T-Birds clique and friend to John Travolta's Danny in the 1978 musical film "Grease" and portrayed Bobby Wheeler on the television show "Taxi," which also starred late comedian Andy Kaufman and ran between 1978 and 1983.

Also left out of this year's segment was Len Lesser, who played Uncle Leo on "Seinfeld," Randy "Macho Man" Savage and "The Cosby Show" grandmother Clarice Taylor.

In an effort to pay tribute to all those who've passed, the Academy created am "In Memoriam" database on their website.

Included in this year's Emmy Memoriam slideshow were "Jack-Ass" star Ryan Dunn, Elizabeth Taylor, "Happy Days" patriarch Tom Bosley, Leslie Nielsen and Anne Francis, among others.
