Jeff Bridges performs 'What a Little Bit of Love Can Do' from his debut album release (Video)
Audiences know about Jeff Bridges' musical talent from his Academy Award-winning role in "Crazy Heart," where he played a washed up country musician named Bad Blake and performed the film's award-winning song "The Weary Kind."
However, Bridges gave viewers of the "Today Show" another glimpse at his musical talent on Tuesday when he stopped by to perform the song "What a Little Bit of Love Can Do" off his self-titled debut album, which also hit stores on Tuesday. The performance can be seen below.
The 61-year-old actor signed a record deal with Blue Note, the Jazz geared label that currently has artists like Norah Jones in its roster. He collaborated with T-Bone Burnett, co-writer of "The Weary Kind" for the album and during his interview on the "Today Show" said some of the songs on the album, including "What a Little Bit of Love Can Do," were considered for the "Crazy Heart" soundtrack but ultimately did not make the cut.
Bridges also contributed his own music compositions to the self-titled album as well as covers of artists like Tom Waits and two covers of his mentor Stephen Bruton. The actor credits Bruton, who co-wrote and co-produced the "Crazy Heart" soundtrack, for helping him find his voice.
Bridges wants people to know that creating and playing music is not a new endeavor for him. "I've been doing it from a teen until now and it's really been a big part of my life," he told "Today Show" host Matt Lauer.
