Jay-Z raps about new daughter, reveals Beyonce had a miscarriage before Blue Ivy Carter - Listen
After Jay-Z and Beyonce welcomed their first child, a daughter named Blue Ivy, on January 7, new father Jay-Z took to the music studio to express his happiness.
In a new song posted on his social website Life + Times on January 9 titled "Glory," Jay-Z discusses the joy he feels for his daughter, the trouble the couple had with previous pregnancies and his wife Beyonce's past miscarriage.
"False alarms and false starts / All made better by the sound of your heart / All the pain of the last time / I pray so hard it was the last time," he raps in the song, which can be heard below. "Last time the miscarriage was so tragic / We was afraid you'd disappear / But nah baby you magic," Jay-Z later added.
Later in the song he says, "You're a child of destiny / You're the child of my destiny / You're my child with the child from Destiny's Child / That's a hell of a recipe."
The song's refrain is: "The most amazing feeling I feel / Words can't describe what I'm feeling for real / Maybe I paint the sky blue / My greatest creation was you. You. Glory."
The song is also credited as "featuring B.I.C." which could stand for Blue Ivy Carter and towards the end of the song, a baby can be heard crying in the background.
According to a report by E! News, sources confirmed the Beyonce gave birth via scheduled C-section at Lenox Hill hospital in New York on January 7.
Spokespeople for both Beyonce and Jay-Z have not commented on the birth or the name of the child.
Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles shared her first thoughts of the new baby early Sunday morning tweeting, "The most beautiful girl in the world."
The 30-year-old singer announced her pregnancy during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in August. During her 2011 MTV VMA performance she told the audience, "I want you to feel the love that's growing inside me." At the end she opened her sequined tuxedo jacket and rubbed her stomach, to the delight of the crowd.
It is the first child for the singer, who is married to 41-year-old rapper Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter. The couple got married on April 4, 2008. The nuptials were so secret that no photos or video from the event were released. The couple got married with a close circle of 40 friends and family members after dating for six years.
