January Jones 'not as approachable' as others says 'Mad Men' child star
January Jones is known for her role as the sometimes icy mom Betty Francis (formerly Draper), ex wife to series protagonist Donald Draper. Now Jared Gilmore, one of the young child actors who once played her son Bobby on the show, is warning other child actors about what it's like to work with Jones on set.
Gilmore is now a series-regular on ABC's "Once Upon a Time" and could not divide his schedule between the two shows, so now "Mad Men" is on the hunt to cast a new Bobby Draper. When asked by TV Guide for any advice for the new young actor who will take over the role, Gilmore replied, "Be careful around January. She's not as approachable as the others. She's really serious about what she does. Everyone else is so nice."
"Mad Men" takes place in the 1960s and stars Jon Hamm as Don Draper, a brilliant advertising executive who was once married to Jones' character.
Gilmore is actually the third actor to play the role of Bobby Draper on the series. He starred on seasons three and four Before Gilmore, Aaron Hart played the oldest Draper boy on season 2. The role was originated by Maxwell Huckabee in 2007 during season one.
Jones has not commented on the report but her co-star, John Slattery, defended the actress to E! News when asked about the matter on Monday, August 22. "It's an intimidating character," Slattery said. "I mean, that's the character. Betty Draper is an intimidating woman I suppose, if you were a 7-year-old boy [or] her son."
Jones confirmed her pregnancy in April, months after she and "Saturday Night Live" cast member Jason Sudeikis broke up. In February, she told OnTheRedCarpet.com that she is "not dating anyone."
