James Van Der Beek to play himself in comedy TV pilot
Former "Dawson's Creek" star James Van Der Beek could be heading back to the small screen in a new pilot playing...James Van Der Beek.
The actor has been cast as himself in a new ABC pilot called "Don't Trust the Bitch in Apt. 23," according to The Hollywood Reporter. On the show Van Der Beek is the best friend to the titular "bitch" named Chloe, played by Krysten Ritter of "Breaking Bad" and "Gravity."
Other actors who have played themselves on television include Jennifer Grey in the 1999 sitcom "It's Like, You Know..." and "Friends" star Matt LeBlanc on the HBO series "Episodes."
Since his days on the popular teen drama, Van Der Beek has had roles in "Mercy" and "One Tree Hill." The actor and his second wife, Kimberly Brook, welcomed their first child, Olivia Van Der Beek, on September 25, 2010. The couple married in August 2010.
Van Der Beek finalized his divorce from actress Heather McComb in early June. The two married in 2003 and had no children.
