James Van Der Beek and wife welcome second child, a boy
James Van Der Beek happily informed his Twitter followers on March 13 that his wife Kimberly gave birth to a baby boy.
"Had my first son this morning... well, actually, my wife had him. I just caught him," the actor said. "Wow. Heart expanding way faster than my brain."
"If you could bottle up and distribute this feeling, I swear there'd be no more war. #fatherhood," he later added.
It is the second child for the actor and his wife. The couple announced the pregnancy in October. "Just when we thought we couldn't feel any more blessed, it seems the universe has plans to give our daughter a sibling..." he wrote at the time.
The two are parents to a 17-month-old daughter named Olivia.
Van Der Beek and his wife were married in August 2010 in a traditional Kabbalah ceremony in Israel. The actor finalized his divorce from actress Heather McComb in early June 2010. The two married in 2003 and had no children.
Van Der Beek has an upcoming role in the ABC comedy "Don't Trust The B---- in Apartment 23" set to debut on April 11. The actor will be playing a version of himself on the series who is the best friend to one of the main characters named Chloe, played by Krysten Ritter of "Breaking Bad" and "Gravity."
Since his days on the popular teen drama, Van Der Beek has had roles in "Mercy," "Ugly Betty" and "One Tree Hill."
