James Franco will reprise his character of serial killer Franco on the ABC soap opera "General Hospital" in February, the month he co-hosts the 2011 Academy Awards.

The 32-year-old rose to fame with the "Spider-Man" films and recently played a hiker who amputates his own arm in the new movie "127 Hours".

He began playing his recurring role on "General Hospital" in November 2009 and his character has appeared in at least 40 episodes over the past year, with the most recent airing in August.

Franco will appear on two episodes of "General Hospital", which will air on the Friday before and the Monday following the 83rd Oscars ceremony, an ABC spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com, adding that his character will most likely "continue to wreak havoc in Port Charles, especially with Jason Morgan."

It was announced in late November that Franco and Anne Hathaway, a 28-year-old who stars in the new R-rated romantic film "Love and Other Drugs", will co-host the Academy Awards ceremony, which airs live on ABC from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on February 27. The nominations will be announced at 8:30 a.m. ET on Jan. 25, 2011.
