Jake Gyllenhaal appears on 'Man Vs. Wild' - teaser video

Jake Gyllenhaal battles tough conditions during a survival trek in Iceland on a new episode of "Man Vs. Wild," which is set to air on July 11 at 9 p.m. ET on the Discovery Channel.

Gyllenhaal, the 30-year-old star of films such as "Brokeback Mountain" and "Donnie Darko," and host Bear Grylls will visit mountains, huge glaciers and some of Europe's most active volcanoes, according to a statement from the network.

"I kind of have a fear of heights," Gyllenhaal says in a trailer for the episode, as a dizzying image of a man clutching a rope stretched between two mountain tops is seen.

A Discovery Channel statement said: "Jake will have to go where Bear goes, eat whatever Bear eats, and on occasion even take the lead, if he's going to cope with some of the worst conditions known to man."
