"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling has fans holding their breath awaiting details on her mysterious new website "Pottermore," which she plans to reveal on Thursday.

The author has called a news conference in London to offer more information on the site, which several British newspapers have reported is a Web-based game including a hunt for real magic wands. The media outlets refer to what appeared to be a leaked marketing memo in their reports. It was not clear whether the memo was genuine and Rowling's representatives had no immediate comment, the Associated Press reports.

Rowling's seventh and final Harry Potter novel, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," was published in 2007. The final film the series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2," hits theatres on July 15.

The author's spokesperson confirmed to the Associated Press last week that the mysterious PotterMore.com website is a new project by J.K. Rowling. However, according to the spokesperson, the site is not a new "Harry Potter" book and is not directly related to the final Potter movie.

Visitors to PotterMore.com can see a "Coming soon" note with Rowling's signature underneath it surrounded by two owls on branches. Clicking one of the owls leads to a YouTube page, also decorated with owls, with a video dubbed "J.K. Rowling's Announcement" featuring a clock counting down to early Thursday, June 23. Pottermore.com also has a Twitter account.

"Harry Potter" fan-site TheLeakyCauldron.org said that it had seen a preview of Pottermore and called it "breathtaking."

According to the wire service, "Pottermore" was trademarked in 2009 by Warner Bros., the film studio which distributes the "Harry Potter" movies. A trademark description for Pottermore suggests an interactive site "providing on-line chat rooms and electronic bulletin boards" and "on-line facilities for real-time interaction with other computer users concerning topics of general interest."
