"House M.D.," the FOX medical drama that stars Hugh Laurie as an anti-social, cynical and brilliant doctor, has been canceled after eight seasons.
The final episode is set to air in May. The show's ratings have fallen considerably since Lisa Edelstein, who played the boss and a love interest of Laurie's title character since its 2004 debut, left the series last spring.
Lisa Edelstein, who plays Dr. Lisa Cuddy on "House M.D.," has left the FOX medical mystery series and will not appear on its upcoming eighth season in the fall, her spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com.
FOX had announced last week that that show, which stars Hugh Laurie as misanthropic Dr. Gregory House, Cuddy's love interest, had been renewed.
"House M.D.," FOX's medical mystery series that stars Hugh Laurie as misanthropic Dr. Gregory House, has been renewed for an eighth season.
"Over the past seven seasons, 'House' has redefined the medical drama and has given us one of television's most compelling and iconic characters," Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, said in a statement.
