Hugh Jackman talks Oscar nomination, Russell Crowe and his wife (Video)
Hugh Jackman was beaming at the Academy's 2013 luncheon, talking about his wife's support, his Oscar-nominated film and the advice he received from Russell Crowe.
Jackman, 44, attended the Academy Awards 85th annual luncheon on February 4 at the Beverly Hilton hotel. The actor, who is nominated for his role in "Les Miserables," gushed to OTRC.com about how he's preparing for the big night - and how Crowe gave him some insight on what to expect.
"I talked to Russell Crowe about it," Jackman told OTRC.com at the star-studded event. "He said, 'Man, I don't care who you are - the floor falls from you.'"
"He says, 'I don't care if you're the red hot favorite and everybody known to man tells you you're going to win - if your name is called out, the floor falls way below you and all for five seconds don't know what's going on.'" he continued. "So, I've taken that to heart, and if it happens, you won't see me stand straight up - I'm just going to sit for a bit."
Jackman is nominated for an Oscar for his role as Jean Valjean, a man who stole bread to feed his family and escapes jail, along with his past. Valjean rescues an impoverished orphan girl and joins a group of student revolutionaries in 19th century France but spends his life trying to find redemption.
The film also stars Oscar-nominated actress Anne Hathaway as famed character Fantine, along with Amanda Seyfried and Samantha Barks. The actor, who often praises his wife Deb in interviews for her support, talked about how she copes with him working with some of Hollywood's most gorgeous ladies.
"I've had people say to me, now how does Deb cope, if you're with Halle Berry, or Nicole Kidman, or Anne Hathaway that you work with - and I say, here's the deal: They meet me, and we work, and it's fine, but as soon as they meet Deb, they don't ever want to talk to me again - because she's way more interesting, and way funnier, and way sexier, so it is all about Deb, and rightly so."
