Hugh Jackman received the 2,487th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, December 13. The actor's star is located at 6931 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Madame Tussauds Hollywood.
Jackman's wife Deborra-Lee Furness, 12-year-old son Oscar and 7-year-old daughter Ava were on hand for the ceremony as well as his "Les Miserables" co-stars Amanda Seyfried and Anne Hathaway. Jay Leno also gave a brief speech to honor the actor.
"This is not just bestowed on people as lucky as myself by the city or the chamber of commerce, it is also nominated for by fans and I think it's one of the coolest thing about the Walk of Fame," Jackman said. "I have the greatest fans in the world."
"I have received support. I have received friendship from people way before I deserved it or earned it, not only professionally but personally. Many of them are here today," he added.
Jay Leno reflected about the time he first met Jackman -- for Jackman's first U.S. late night talk show appearance -- and said about the star, "I don't believe wealth and fame changes anybody. I think it just exaggerates who you already are and I think your wealth and success and fame and all these things have just made you more of the better person that you are."
Jackman stars alongside Russell Crowe, 48, in the upcoming musical drama film "Les Miserables." The film is set to showcase a slew of stars portraying the famous musical's characters such as Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfriend, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.
In the highly-anticipated film, Crowe will play Inspector Javert, a stern lawman who spends years hunting down Jackman's character, Valjean, a man who stole bread to feed his family and escapes jail and his past. Valjean rescues an impoverished orphan girl and joins a group of student revolutionaries in 19th century France but spends his life trying to find redemption.
Tom Hooper, director of the Oscar-winning film "The King's Speech," will helm the new "Les Miserables" movie, which will be distributed by Universal Pictures and is set for release on Dec. 25, 2012.
