Hugh Hefner, 86, weds Crystal Harris, 26, at Playboy Mansion: 5 facts
Hugh Hefner, the 86-year-old founder of Playboy, wed 26-year-old Playmate and on-again, off-again girlfriend Crystal Harris on New Year's Eve at his Playboy Mansion.
This is the third marriage for Hefner, a father of four. He and his new bride exchanged vows inside the home, in the early evening of December 31, in an intimate ceremony.
Check out five facts about the wedding of Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris and also check out gorgeous photos from the evening.
1. The bride wore a touch of pink -- and so did Hef, kind of.
Following in the footsteps of Jessica Biel and Anne Hathaway, Harris ditched the traditional white, cream and ivory for a blush, strapless Romona Keveza mermaid-style bridal gown with a fitted draped bodice, a dropped waist and a fluted-shaped skirt made of soft silk organza petals.
Harris carried a bouquet of pink and purple roses and white Calla lilies. Hefner wore a black and white tuxedo with a black bow tie and a pink rose boutonniere.
2. Their beloved dog made the wedding photos.
The guests included family members and close friends as well as the newlyweds' Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Charlie, who posed for pictures with the happy couple.
3. Hef's brother Keith, 83, served as his best man.
"Crystal and I married on New Year's Eve in the Mansion with Keith as my Best Man. Love that girl!' Hefner Tweeted, alongside a photo of the three and an officiant inside the home.
4. Hef's robe made an appearance.
The ceremony was followed by a private reception, where the newlyweds toasted with Champagne and cut a three-tier wedding cake covered in white fondant, pink roses and a mermaid and merman bride and groom and topped with an edible photo of Hefner, wearing his trademark red robe, hugging Harris.
5. They celebrated New Year's Eve in style -- and partied with rock stars and Playmates.
Later in the evening, Hefner and Harris hosted the Playboy Mansion's annual New Year's Eve party. The venue was decorated to look like a Art Deco-styled nightclub, a Playboy spokesperson said in a statement obtained by OTRC.com. Jazz and blues singer Brenna Whitaker and her band performed for the guests.
Hefner changed out of his tux and into a purple satin shirt and dark jacket and also wore another one of his trademark accessories -- his white sailor hat. Harris kept her wedding gown on and added a sparkly party tiara as the two rang in the new year.
The New Year's Eve bash guest list included KISS rocker Gene Simmons and his partner Shannon Tweed, Playboy magazine's 1982 Playmate of the Year, country music trio Rascal Flatts singer Joe Don Rooney and his wife Tiffany Fallon, the 2005 Playmate of the Year, and Tampa Bay Rays MLB player Evan Longoria, who arrived with girlfriend Jaime Edmondson, Playboy's Playmate of January 2010.
Harris and Hefner, 86, announced their second engagement earlier this month and the couple obtained a marriage license.
Hefner, who for years lived with and was involved romantically with several Playboy models at a time, began his romance with Harris around 2008. She was named Playboy's Playmate of the Month for December 2009 and became his sole girlfriend. They got engaged in December 2010.
Harris called off their wedding in June 2011, just days before the ceremony. Playboy then released its July 2011 issue, which featured her on the cover alongside the headline "Runaway Bride." (see photo)
Hefner and Harris reconciled in the spring of 2012 and she moved back to his Playboy Mansion. The couple picked up a marriage license at a courthouse in nearby Beverly Hills on December 4. Harris later showed off her diamond engagement ring to her Twitter followers (see photos).
