'Honey Boo Boo' family 'sore' after first car accident, Mama June says
"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" star Alana Thompson, 8, and her family members are feeling "sore" after getting into their first car accident, says Mama June, who adds they still plan to celebrate Pumpkin's 14th birthday.
The crash took place on Monday night in their native Georgia, where the reality show is filmed. Alana, mother Mama June, sisters Lauryn "Pumpkin" and Jessica "Chubbs" and dad Sugar Bear, who appear with her on the TLC reality show, were inside a 2012 Suburban when a 19-year-old driver crashed into it, People magazine, which added that he was allegedly speeding and driving without his lights on. The family was then taken to a hospital.
"As many of you have heard we were in a car accident last night," Mama June said in a statement to OTRC.com on Tuesday, Jan. 7. "It was really scary for us, since it was the first time any of us had ever been in a wreck."
Mama June told People magazine that "everybody is doing OK" and that she suffered whiplash and a back and neck sprain, while Pumpkin has "severe bruising" on her chest.
"We are definitely really sore today, but our top priority is to celebrate Pumpkin's birthday," she said in her statement to OTRC.com. "She turned 14 today and no matter how sore we feel we are going to go out and celebrate. As always, we want to thank everyone for their support and well wishes."
"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" returns for season 3 on Jan. 16.
