Heidi Montag files for divorce from Spencer Pratt, report says

Heidi Montag has reportedly filed for divorce from Spencer Pratt, amending her petition for legal separation she had submitted to a Los Angeles court more than a month ago.

"The couple has agreed they would like their divorce to be finalized in a timely manner in an out of court settlement," Montag's lawyer Jodeane Farrell told People magazine on Friday. "Both parties are amicable with each other and over the possibility of finalizing their divorce."

"I love Heidi but our marriage was a show it was part of The Hills world," Pratt, 29, told the magazine in response. "And that world is on a sound stage. It's clear that reality TV-fame-loving Spencer Pratt does not fit with my ex-wife Heidi Montag's ambitions for a motion picture actor/pop star career and being a single sex symbol for the world."

Montag, 23, had in June filed for legal separation from her co-star of The Hills, citing irreconcilable differences. Pratt has said he is a "famewhore" and that did not sit well with his wife, adding that the two are on "friendly" terms.

"Thank you all for making me famous!" Pratt had written on his Twitter page. "I truly had my dreams come true! hated or not! Being on TV is soooooooooooooooooooo coooooooooL!"

The Hills ended earlier this month after six seasons. Pratt and Montag were painted as villains on the show, especially Pratt, who had expressed his displeasure for Lauren Conrad, the narrator and leading actress for the first five seasons.

Pratt and Montag, who has released her own music and underwent a series of cosmetic procedures before the start of the last season of The Hills.

"In the studio recording my first song of my new album," Montag Tweeted recently. "I am putting my heart and soul in it."

Despite constant fighting on camera, the couple has often been said to have staged publicity stunts and Audrina Patridge and Lo Bosworth, their co-stars on The Hills, have suggested the couple's split may be fake.

The couple released photos of their wedding in Mexico in 2008 but never made it official in court. Court documents show they married in Los Angeles on April 25, 2009 and they were seen getting married in a televised ceremony on The Hills. In the past few years, the two have often posed for celebrity photographs during what appear to be dates or outings.
