Heidi Klum on dating bodyguard: 'He's a great man' - Video
Heidi Klum appeared on Katie Couric's talk show to promote her new baby line and she discussed her estranged husband Seal's comments to the media and her love life.
Late last month, Seal told a camera man in a video posted on TMZ, "I would have thought Heidi would have showed a little bit more class and at least waited until we separated first before deciding to fornicate with the help."
His rep later clarified in a statement to Us Weekly that the singer "was not implying his wife was cheating while they were together, but he was merely pointing out that their separation and divorce were not final and they are still legally married."
Klum denied she had an affair with her bodyguard, Martin Kristen, while she was married to Seal.
"I never looked at another man," Klum told Couric about the time she was with Seal. She went on to confirm she is seeing her bodyguard romantically but that she would not call it a relationship just yet.
"He's a great man and recently we just got to know each other from a completely different side," She added.
According to Klum, Kristen has been working for the family for four years.
"He's been with our family for the last four years. He's cared for our four children and helped us tremendously," Klum told Couric. "I trust him with my children's life."
She also said she was "trying to take it one day at a time."
When asked about what three of qualities she looks for in a man, the 39-year-old model said that kindness was the most important. She also said love and honesty were her other qualities.
Klum and Seal, 49, announced their split in January and she filed for divorce a month later. They share four children - Leni, Klum's 8-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, sons Henry and Johan, who are 6 and 5, and daughter Lou, 2.
"I'm doing kind of ok. It is very hard," Klum said during her "Katie" interview about going through divorce.
"When I said I do I meant forever," she added. "We couldn't make it work."
She also said she and Seal were "in an okay place" and that "he's moved on and so have I."
Klum also spoke about her new baby and children product line at Babies "R" Us called "Truly Scrumptious," which launches online and in stores on September 15.
