Gwyneth Paltrow says dating Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck was 'strange'
Gwyneth Paltrow says dating Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck more than 10 years ago was "strange" because their romances were made so public.
Paltrow, a 38-year-old Oscar-winning actress, and Pitt, who played her husband in the film "Se7en", dated between 1994 and 1997 and were engaged for several months. The actress dated Affleck on and off between 1997 and 2000. Stories of both romances were covered extensively by press outlets from all around the world.
"It was strange to be part of a public couple," Paltrow told E! Entertainment Television regarding her romances with Pitt and Affleck in an interview that was part of a special about her life, which aired on Wednesday.
Paltrow married Coldplay singer Chris Martin in 2003 and they have two children - daughter Apple, 6 and son Moses, 4. Nowadays, she mostly keeps out of the public spotlight and divides her time between the United States, where she usually films movies, and London, where her family lives.
Pitt has been in a relationship with actress Angelina Jolie since 2005 and is the father of their six children. Affleck married actress Jennifer Garner in 2005 and they have two daughters - Violet, 5, and Seraphina, who turns 2 in January.
Paltrow can be seen next in the movie "Country Strong", which is set for release on Jan. 7, 2011. She says she was inspired by Beyonce and Faith Hill while preparing to play country singer Kelly Canter in the film.
The actress provides her own vocals in the movie, which sees Canter looking for a comeback and also stars Hill's husband, fellow country singer Tim McGraw, as Canter's husband and manager. Meester, a "Gossip Girl" actress who has also released music, plays a former beauty queen. Paltrow performed the title track of "Country Strong" at the 2010 CMA Awards earlier this year.
The actress received a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame earlier this month. Tim McGraw, who stars with Paltrow in "Country Strong" and Hill, his wife, attended the ceremony, as Matthew Morrison of "Glee", the FOX musical sitcom that featured Paltrow as a substitute teacher.
Paltrow says she is set to return to the show to reprise her role as free-spirited Holly Holiday.
