Golden Globes: Claire Danes of 'Homeland' wins Best TV Actress - Drama again

Claire Danes has won the 2013 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Drama for her role as Carrie Mathison in Showtime's "Homeland" for the second year in a row, marking her fourth win overall.

The winners were announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles on January 13. Danes beat Connie Britton of "Nashville," Glenn Close of "Damages," Michelle Dockery of "Downton Abbey" and Julianna Margulies of The Good Wife."

"Wow!" Danes said in her acceptance speech. 'I have to think about the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for being so insanely generous to me, for so many years now. I was up here when I was 15. This is amazing."

Danes earned her first Golden Globe award and first Emmy nomination in 1995, given for her lead role in the short-lived series "My So-Called Life," which launched her career. She won her second Golden Globe and first Emmy in 2010, for the television film "Temple Grandin."

Danes also thanked the cast and crew of the show, citing how they were supportive of her pregnancy and how the series' costume designer adjusted her wardrobe to accomodate her growing figure. Danes and husband Hugh Dancy welcomed their first child, a son named Cyrus, a month ago.

She said that Dancy and their baby were upstairs at the Golden Globes with her parents. She and her husabnd and other "Homeland" cast members, including Navid Negahban, who plays the Islamic terrorist Abu Nazir, and Morena Baccarin, who plays Lewis' character's wife, celebrated the show's Golden Globe nominations at a Showtime party on January 12. In "Homeland," which debuted in 2011, Danes plays a bipolar CIA agent and Damian Lewis plays her lover, Nicholas Brody, a U.S. Iraq War veteran who secretly became an Islamic terrorist while in captivity and who was elected as a congressman after his return home. Danes' pregnancy was not part incorporated into the most recent second season of the series.

The show also stars "Princess Bride" actor Mandy Patinkin as Mathison's mentor and CIA superior. All three actors earned individual Golden Globe nods this year. Lewis took home the prize and "Homeland" won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series - Drama.

Last year, "Homeland" won that top Golden Globe as well as six Emmys, including the award for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series for Lewis and Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series for Danes. In 2012, she also won an Golden Globe for her role. Lewis was nominated for one last year but lost to Kelsey Grammer of the Starz series "Boss."
