Golden Globes 2014: 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' wins Best TV Series - Comedy

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" has won the 2014 Golden Globe for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical.

The winners were announced at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California on Jan. 12. The show also beat "The Big Bang Theory," "Girls," "Modern Family" and "Parks and Recreation." It is the first time the show has won the award in this category and the first time it has been nominated.

The series, which is currently in its first season, stars Andy Samberg as Detective Jake Peralta in the fictional 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department. The series also star Andre Baugher as Captain Ray Holt and Terry Crews as Sergeant Terry Jeffords.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" scored a total of two nominations. Earlier, Samberg won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy category. The comedian previously won an Emmy in 2007 for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for a song he performed on "Saturday Night Live" with Justin Timberlake about a male body part in a box.
