Golden Globes 2014: 'Breaking Bad' wins Best TV Series - Drama

"Breaking Bad" has won the 2014 Golden Globe for Best Television Series - Drama.

The winners were announced at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California on Jan. 12. The show also beat "Downton Abbey," "The Good Wife," "House of Cards" and "Masters of Sex." It is the first time the show has won the award and it has been nominated in the category twice.

"Breaking Bad" debuted in 2008 and starred Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a chemistry teacher who began a secret side job as a crystal meth maker and dealer after he was diagnosed with cancer who eventually became a drug kingpin. The show ended its run in September 2013 after five seasons.

The show was nominated for three awards this year. Cranston also won the Golden Globe forBest Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama category. Cranston was previously nominated in that category in 2013, 2012 and 2011.

Cranston previously won three Emmy Awards for his leading role. Cranston's co-star Anna Gunn won the Emmy award last year for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for his role as White's wife, Skyler White.
