Claire Danes has won the 2012 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Drama for her role on "Homeland," marking her third win and nomination The 32-year-old beat nominees Mireille Enos of "The Killing," Julianna Margulies of The Good Wife, Madeleine Stowe of "Revenge" and Callie Thorne of "Necessary Roughness." The winners were announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 15, 2012. "I first won this award when I was 15 for "My So-Called Life" and I was utterly stunned and overwhelmed, as one is, and the first thing I did when I left the stage was burst into tears because I forgot to thank my parents," Danes said in her acceptance speech. This time, she said, she brought her mother with her and thanked her. She also thanked her husband, which she said was part of her "new-ish family," actor Hugh Dancy. The two met on the set of the 2007 film "Evening" and married in 2009. "Homeland" earlier won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Drama. The terrorism-themed series debuted last year on the cable channel Showtime. Danes plays a CIA officer who carried out a mission in Iraq and was then assigned to the agency's Counterterrorism Center in Virgina. Damian Lewis, who plays a U.S. Marine and former prisoner of war, also received an individual Golden Globe nod. "Homeland" also stars former "V" actress Morena Baccarin as the wife of Lewis' character. Mandy Patinkin of "The Princess Bride" fame portrays the CIA's Middle-East Division Chief, who is the mentor of Danes' character. "Homeland" marks Danes' return to television full time since the short-lived 1990s teen angst-filled drama "My So-Called Life," which launched the actress' career and earned her her first Golden Globe. She won her second for the 2010 television film "Temple Grandin," which also earned her her first Emmy. Danes is also known for her roles in movies such as "Romeo + Juliet," "Stardust" and "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines." At the 2012 Golden Globe Awards, Danes wore a J. Mendel ecru and black gown with a draped front, open back and embroidered cap sleeves. See more photos from the red carpet.
