'Glee' spoilers: 'Grilled Cheesus' episode tackles religion, Gwyneth Paltrow gets four songs
The upcoming Glee episode "Grilled Cheesus" is set to tackle religion and faith and co-creator Ryan Murphy called it the "best episode we've done".
Meanwhile, he also told OnTheRedCarpet.com that Gwyneth Paltrow will not only sing and appear later in the second season, but will perform a duet with one of the show's major stars. Check out Glee spoilers below.
"I love her,' Murphy said of Paltrow. "She's very talented. She's coming on an episode, she's going to sing four songs. Some big Broadway stuff. She's doing a big duet with Lea Michele that I'm very excited about and some top 40 stuff."Michele plays glee club student Rachel Berry, who never likes to share the spotlight. The actress recently posed semi-topless for a racy photo published in Marie Claire magazine.
It was reported last month Paltrow, who showcases her musical chops in the new film Country Strong, would guest-star on the show and will play a teacher.
Carol Burnett is also set to appear on the FOX musical sitcom. Actress Jane Lynch, who plays the show's villain, Sue Sylvester, told OnTheRedCarpet.com in August that Burnett will play her character's Nazi hunter mother, who returns after abandoning her daughters.
Last week's episode featured Britney Spears and reenactments of her music videos performed by the cast, including breakout star Heather Morris, a former backup dancer for singer Beyonce.
John Stamos also began his recurring role on Glee as Carl, a dentist who has stolen the heart of Will Schuester's love, Emma Pillsbury. Stamos recently told OnTheRedCarpet.com he is "having the best time" on the show and said the cast was "everything you would want them to be."
Glee began in 2009 and stars Matthew Morrison as the head of a glee club made up of teenage misfits and popular students struggling to find themselves amid the turmoils of high school and Sylvester's meddling ways. The cast sings contemporary songs, nostalgic one hit wonders and Broadway showtunes.
The show has tackled topics deemed daring for a high school series. Racial, sexual and other controversial topics are spoken about candidly and with dry humor.
Last season, one of the glee club members becomes pregnant by a fellow student and has a child. This season will focus on bullying and tolerance, Murphy said, adding that gay glee club member Kurt Hummel, played by Chris Colfer, will get a love interest.
