'Glee' spoilers: Chord Overstreet to appear in season 2, which will reportedly feature 'Rocky Horror' episode
Chord Overstreet will appear in the upcoming second season of Glee, which premieres on September 21 and will reportedly feature an episode dedicated to the cult musical film The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Overstreet will play "a high school athlete who starts off as Finns protégé but becomes his competition," FOX said in a statement on Monday. Warning: Spoilers ahead!
It is unclear how many episodes Overstreet, who appeared last year in Nickelodeon series iCarly, has signed on for.
Other guest stars confirmed for season two include John Stamos, who will play a dentist who battles glee club director Will Schuester, for the affections of guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury and singer Charice, who is set to play a foreign exchange student who competes with Rachel Berry, the star of the glee club who is played by Lea Michele.
Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, who starred opposite one another in the hit Broadway musical Wicked and who guest-starred last season as wacky April Rhodes and Berry's long-lost biological mother, will also return in season two, The Hollywood Reporter quoted Glee creator Ryan Murphy as saying at Comic-Con 2010 in San Diego.
He also said the show's writers were also working on a Rocky Horror-themed episode, adding that cast member Chris Colfer requested to do "The Time Warp," the movie's signature dance, on the series. FOX has not commented on the report.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 spoof of sci-fi B movies of its era. Created by British personality Richard O'Brien, the film starred Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as two unsuspecting lovebirds who are stranded in a creepy manor run by "sweet transvestite" scientist, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, played by Tim Curry, who coaxes them - and the viewers - to let go of their inhibitions and pursue their fantasies.
The movie has spurred live performances put on by both fans and professional actors all over the world, as well as a Broadway musical.
Murphy had also said the second season would feature an episode dedicated to Britney Spears, although it was unclear if the pop star herself would appear on the show. The previous debut season featured tributes to Madonna and Lady Gaga.
Murphy said at Comic-Con that season two "will be more intimate," adding that Tina has fallen out of love with Artie and in love with Mike Chang." Meanwhile, Mercedes will probably sing a solo at her church and Colfer's character, a shy, homosexual student named Kurt, will be attending as well in a religion-themed hour.
