'Glee' cast and crew hold a memorial for Cory Monteith
The cast and crew of "Glee" held a memorial for their co-star, Cory Monteith, on Thursday, July 25.
Twentieth Century Fox Television told The Associated press that "Glee" star Lea Michele and series creator Ryan Murphy gathered the cast and crew of the musical show for a memorial where they shared memories and music in "an emotional celebration" of Monteith's life. Michele was Monetith's real-life girlfriend at the time of his death.
The 31-year-old actor was found dead in a hotel room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in downtown Vancouver on July 13. The British Columbia Coroner's Service reported on July 16 that the actor died "of a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol."
Earlier this month, Murphy explained to several outlets, including TV Line, how the show will deal with the loss of Monteith. When "Glee" returns for its fifth season on Sept. 26, the show will air three-episodes before taking a break.
Murphy said the writers had already finished writing the first two episodes, which will be tributes to the Beatles. The third episode will deal with Monteith's tribute and the death of his character, Finn.
On July 18, Monteith's "Glee" co-star Jane Lynch spoke about his death and said, "He was a really bright light in our family and we've lost a really great guy."
