Giuliana Rancic's husband Bill says she's 'doing really well' after double mastectomy
Giuliana Rancic underwent her double mastectomy on Tuesday, December 13, and according to her husband Bill Rancic she is "doing really well" after the surgery.
Bill Rancic updated E! News about his wife's condition on December 14. "Her surgery lasted about four hours and the doctors were very pleased with the result," he said. "She had a little bit of pain through the night but is feeling much better this morning and was cracking jokes."
The E! News personality first announced she was going to have the procedure on December 5. She returned to "The Today Show" to update viewers on health and announced that she will undergo the double mastectomy as part of her treatment for breast cancer.
She appeared on the morning talk show with her husband, Bill Rancic, when she said she decided to undergo the procedure after the lumpectomies she previously had did not effectively eliminate the cancer. Rancic first made her cancer diagnosis public on October 5.
Giuliana Rancic had her own message for fans on December 14, telling E! News, "I want to thank all the viewers and fans for their support and prayers. The tweets and notes have not gone unnoticed. I am very grateful."
She admitted on December 12 that she had some fears about the recovery process. "I'm scared of waking up and the pain. I do hear it's a painful recovery, so I worry about that," Giuliana Rancic said.
Giuliana Rancic (nee DePandi) married Bill Rancic, the winner of the first season of "The Apprentice," in 2007. The couple launched their own reality show, "Giuliana & Bill" in 2009.
