Ginnifer Goodwin engaged to Joey Kern

Ginnifer Goodwin of the HBO polygamy drama series "Big Love" and boyfriend Joey Kern are engaged.

Kern, 34, popped the question earlier this month, People magazine said, quoting the couple as saying in a statement: "We couldn't be happier than to celebrate our engagement over the holidays with our families."

Kern, who has appeared in movies such as "Super Troopers" and "Cabin Fever," and the 32-year-old actress, who has also starred in films such as "He's Just Not That Into You" and "Ramona and Beezus," have been dating for the past two years and plan to marry in fall 2011, the magazine said.

In "Big Love," Goodwin plays one of three "sister wives" in a polygamous family. The show returns for a fifth and final season on Jan. 16, 2011.
