George Clooney says acting is 'not that hard' compared to his past jobs
George Clooney says that although his latest film "The Descendants" has many tricky emotional scenes, he wouldn't describe his acting work as "hard" compared to his pre-film career.
In the film Clooney plays Matt King a man who tries to reconnect with his two daughters when his wife falls into a coma after getting into a boating accident. While on a trip to Oahu as a trustee of his family's land, King learns his wife was having an affair.
"Look, I cut tobacco for a living for a while in Kentucky -- that was hard, you know? I sold ladies shoes in a department store -- that was hard," Clooney told OnTheRedCarpet.com correspondent Chris Balish at the film's premiere on Tuesday, November 15. "This [acting] isn't a hard job in those terms. Was it tricky? Sure there were elements of it that were difficult to do, it's not hard."
While on the red carpet, the actor joked around with his co-star Shailene Woodley, who plays one of Clooney's daughters in the film. In the video above, Clooney can be seen teasing Woodley about her high heels.
Amara Miller, who plays the actor's youngest daughter in the film named Scottie, told Us Weekly at the premiere she doesn't think the actor would make a good father.
"Let me just say, he wouldn't be good as a father," Miller told the magazine. "George has fun being an adult, and I don't think he would like having kids. I know that he's not planning on having kids anytime soon."
As for the film, Clooney said what makes it work is the solid screenplay by Alexander Payne, who is known for the film "Sideways" and the television series "Hung."
"He's such a good storyteller," Clooney told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "He takes very small moments and makes them really play out and that's a hard thing to do. He's talented."
Clooney has been in the media lately for his high-profile split from girlfriend Elisabetta Canallis, who was the second to be eliminated from "Dancing with the Stars" current 13th season. More recently the actor has been seen stepping out with former WWE star Stacy Keibler, who has since been declared his girlfriend.
Canalis recently said that she had a "father-daughter" kind of relationship with the actor and that the two never talked about having children together.
"The Descendants" hit theaters on November 16. Check out the trailer below.
